In Which Dudley Defeats Voldemort with Hocus Pocus
chronos_tide
For some reason, today I got thinking again about a old theory one of my friends proposed back before the Harry Potter series ended which is possibly the most creative I've ever heard. I think it was after Half-Blood Prince came out, and J.K. Rowling was hinting that there might not be such an easy happy ending in the 7th book.

So my friend said that Harry killing Voldemort would be too easy. She suggested, instead, that Harry will die and that Dudley will turn out to be a wizard. Back in I think the 3rd book there was a scene in which Harry told Dudley he was planning to set a bush on fire and yelled a bunch of cliche magic words, one of them being 'Hocus Pocus', which my friend believed was a genuine spell if only coupled with the current wand movement. Thus, she theorised that Voldemort shall be defeated by Dudley taking up Harry's wand, remembering that spell, and casting Hocus Pocus with the current movement.

...maybe this could be a fic prompt?

Random tumblr question
chronos_tide
So, I just started browsing tumblr, and generally just scroll through a fandom or pairing tag. Except, recently that I've noticed that when I go to a specific person's blog and go through their tag, I see quite a lot of posts which I don't see when I browse the (same) general tag on tumblr (I first noticed this when I saw in some personal blogs that requests I'd made had been filled, which I hadn't noticed following the general tag).

Is this just a glitch? Am I on the wrong tag? Is there any way to see everything?

Anyone know the answer? I'm bad at new websites...

I think like Dan Brown ...a little
chronos_tide
Reading 'Inferno' by Dan Brown and am totally stoked I got one of the clues! And in fact, I used it myself a few years ago (...sort of).

[Spoiler (click to open)]Just got up to the clue "cerca trova" which mean "seek" and "find," hidden on a Italian fresco which is rumoured to hide Leonardo da Vinci's 'Battle of Anghiari,' a famous supposedly lost painting.

And I totally knew it! Also for an art exhibition a few years ago I inked "cerca trova" on the side of the canvas on my submission as a reference.

And I also knew from the start he wasn't saying "very sorry."

Ha. I know more than ...at least one of the characters.

*now back to reading*

Any Aussies around?

Something that I found on my harddrive today, a 'tv show review' cooked up years ago as a satirical article.

Ah, the in-jokes...

Taking on from such programs as Border Security and The Force which take you into the backroom of our security and justice systems, GO!’s new reality television show provides an exclusive insight into the most top secret, the most cryptic, the most brutal organisation of all: the Australian government.

Jump behind the backbenchers with the camera crew and see the underhand dealings that make our country great. The parliament is a complex net of egotism, self aggrandisement, and ulterior motives. With every politician focusing so much of his or her energy on the very important and extremely delicate motions of making themselves as popular as possible while doing as little as they can, it’s no wonder that they sometimes make a few minor errors like budget miscalculations that result in thousands losing their promised rebates.

“It’s not easy,” advised one minister who prefers to remain anonymous. “In fact, I’d say it’s one of the most dangerous industries out there.”

“Indeed it is,” confirmed another as he rubbed absentmindedly at the scar on his back. “Even when you think you’re going well, you never know when there’s a red waiting behind you with a knife – and I’m not talking about commies.”

So, if you’re feeling patriotic or just up for some harmless dishonesty, tune in to The Prime Minister and I on Thursdays at 7:30 for your weekly fix of double dealings and false promises. Get the inside story on the workings of our leaders and maybe move that one little step closer to explain that one superhuman quality that all politicians seem to possess: the ability to disappear from existence when not reading about themselves in the paper. Happy watching!
